FAQ
Common Questions About Our Services & Products
The questions buyers, sign installers, and search engines most frequently ask about what we build, what we ship, and how the process works.
What sign types does American LED Signage manufacture?
We manufacture and install nine categories of commercial signage: channel letter signs (front-lit, halo-lit, open-face), pylon signs, monument signs, marquee signs, digital billboards, LED message centers, wall signs, lighted box signs, and ongoing sign repair and maintenance. Three productized offerings are also available for purchase and shipment: LED channel letter kits, LED message center modules, and pre-fabricated sign cabinets.
Are the LED channel letter kits available for DIY installation?
Yes. The LED Channel Letter Kit ships pre-engineered with UL-listed LED modules, polycarbonate faces, aluminum returns, mounting hardware, and wiring diagrams. The kit is designed for storefront installers, signage contractors, and DIY-capable property owners. Contact us for current lead time and pricing.
What is the typical lead time for a custom commercial sign?
Most channel letter and wall sign projects run 4 to 8 weeks from approved design to installation, including permit time. Pylon signs, monument signs, and digital billboards typically run 8 to 14 weeks due to engineering, foundation work, and stricter permit review. Productized kits, modules, and cabinets have shorter lead times since they are pre-engineered — contact us for current production timing.
Do you handle structural engineering and permits for custom signs?
Yes. Every custom sign project includes sealed structural and electrical engineering drawings, municipal permit application, sign-code review, landlord and HOA approvals where required, and zoning variance requests when needed. Clients do not interact directly with sign code authorities.
What is the difference between a channel letter sign and a wall sign?
Channel letter signs are three-dimensional individual letters fabricated from aluminum with polycarbonate or acrylic faces, lit internally by LED modules — they project from the facade and are the standard format for storefront brand display. Wall signs are flat or shallow-depth dimensional graphics mounted directly to a wall surface — they can be halo-lit, front-lit, or backlit, and are used for full-building installations, blade signs, and corporate facade displays.
How long do American LED Signage installations last?
Commercial-grade LED modules used by American LED Signage are rated for 100,000+ hours of continuous illumination — approximately 11 years of nonstop, 24/7 operation, or 20+ years for signs operating dusk-to-dawn. All electrical components carry a multi-year warranty on the LEDs, power supplies, drivers, and housing.
Does American LED Signage provide repair service for signs you did not build?
Yes. The Sign Repair and Maintenance service covers re-lamping, refacing, refurbishing, and emergency outage response on signs we built and signs we did not. Crane-truck service is available in every major US metro. Service contracts are available for multi-location chains and commercial property managers.
What sign cabinet sizes are available?
Pre-fabricated LED sign cabinets are available in standard sizes from 2′×4′ up to 6′×24′, with custom sizing available on request. All cabinets are aluminum-housed, weather-sealed, UL-48 listed, and include integrated LED illumination, polycarbonate or acrylic face, and tamper-resistant fasteners.
How are productized offerings priced and delivered?
Productized offerings — LED Channel Letter Kits, LED Message Center Modules, and Sign Cabinets — are quoted based on your specifications, including size, configuration, and quantity. Submit your project details through the quote form and a specialist will respond with pricing, lead time, and shipping options within one business day.
Can I get a quote without committing to a project?
Yes. Free, no-pressure written quotes are provided within 2 to 3 business days of an initial consultation. The quote includes rendered design mockups, dimensional specifications, permit timeline estimates, and a fixed project price. There is no obligation to proceed.
